ISIS' Mosul Occupation and the Turkmen
The Iraqi Turkmen were the biggest victims of the Arabization policies of Iraqi administrations before 2003, the Kurdishization policies of Erbil administration and ISIS after 2003. In the operations launched by ISIS on June 10, 2014, the Turkmens were subjected to massacres and rape and forced to migrate. After Turkmen geography became a controversial region after the 2003 and the developments on June 10, 2014, the Turkmen were caught between two fires in an environment of war and conflict. Most of the Turkmens had to leave their lands and houses and everything to survive. This study examines the Iraqi Turkmens who conflict with ISIS in June 2014. In this study, after the general situation of Turkmens before ISIS's Mosul invasion, the transformation of Turkmen geography into conflict area with its occupation and its reflections on Turkmens were examined.
