Abstract


The Relationship between Narcissism and Job Satisfaction in the Workplace: The Role of Organizational Identification
This study was conducted to reveal the role of organizational identification in the relationship between the narcissistic personalities of the employees and job satisfaction. To accomplish this aim, a questionnaire was conducted to the hospital staff operating in Erzurum. In this context, the study is discussed in three parts. Firstly, the concepts of narcissism in the workplace, job satisfaction and organizational identification are explained and in the second part, the relations of these concepts are discussed. In the last part, data obtained by the questionnaire method by using structural equation modeling on hospital workers (207) were applied to people. According to the results of the research, it was observed that the levels of narcissism, job satisfaction and organizational identification of the employees were at medium levels. However, it is observed that narcissism behavior in the workplace has a positive and significant effect on job satisfaction based on the structural equation modeling done on hospital workers; There was a positive and meaningful relationship between organizational identification and job satisfaction. Also, it has been shown that organizational identification has a partial mediating role in the relationship between narcissism at work and job satisfaction. However, it is observed that narcissism behavior in the workplace has a positive and significant effect on job satisfaction based on the structural equation modeling done on hospital workers; There was a positive and meaningful relationship between organizational identification and job satisfaction. In addition, it has been shown that organizational identification has a partial mediating role in the relationship between narcissism at work and job satisfaction.
