The Effect of Organizational Identification on Cyberloafing: Research in a Public Institution
The main purpose of this research is to determine the relationship between organizational identification and cyberloafing behaviors. In addition, another aim of the research is to determine whether the level of internet use of public employees for non-work purposes during working hours varies according to variables such as gender, age education status, working time and income level. Municipality employees in Istanbul constitute the population of the research. The type of research is in the form of research involving hypothesis. The data were collected through a questionnaire. 304 employees were reached with the convenience sampling method. Frequency distributions, factor analysis, reliability analysis, analyses of correlation, regression and difference were applied in the analysis of data. According to the findings of the research, it was found that organizational identification does not affect the dimensions of deviance and addiction of cyberloafing, while it has positively affected the personal development dimension. Besides, organizational identification varied according to gender and educational background; addiction-reasoned cyberloafing varied according to gender and age; cyberloafing with the reason of personal development varied according to tenure. As a result of the research, suggestions were made for future studies.
