Abstract


Business Management Program Metaphors: Kocaeli Vocational School Business Management Program Distance Education Students Case
The aim of this study is to explore the perceptions of students studying in the department of business administration with the help of metaphors. It was asked from students to complete statement that the sentence “the program of business administration is a like……./ because…….”. In addition, students were asked questions about demographic information about gender, age, and parents' education level. The research was conducted on the students studying distance education in the department of business administration in Kocaeli Vocational School in 2018-2019 academic year. The sample of the study was voluntarily participated by the sample method. In the research analysis conducted on 40 students, it was determined that 32 students used 29 metaphors. The sentences formed by 8 students were excluded because they did not have a logical reason. Qualitative research method was adopted and content analysis was applied to the data. The metaphors used by the students were collected in the categories of career future, self-development, educational opportunities and educational difficulties. According to the results of the research, it was seen that the students were pleased to study in the department of business administration. It was determined that 71.6% of students studying in business administration department produced metaphors about their career future. It has been concluded that the department of business administration is a department that makes life easier for students and provides job opportunities.
