Abstract
Verbs Which Encode Subjunctive Modality in Kazakh Language
Modalities are linguistic tools that encode the knowledge and attitudes of the speaker about the real or unreal world. Its semantic and structural handling, the number of meaning areas used has made it one of the categories that are difficult to define and classify. Since 19th century, modality has been addressed with different approaches and perspectives in the field of linguistics, so that many classifications have been made. In some of the its classifications, the subjunctive modality has evaluated under different modality types, while in others has not find a place. In this study, model of subjunctive modality formed by the sub-fields of order, volition, request, entreatyis preferred. Subjunctive modality is coded in Kazakh Turkish with various markers such as modal suffixes, analytical structures, verbs, prepositions, discourse strategies. The majority of the studies in Turkey is structural and about its morpho-syntactic and morphological markers. In this study, the verbs that marked the subjunctive modality in Kazakh Turkish is determined.
