Family and Gender in Ömer Seyfettin's Stories
Ömer Seyfettin, known for his early works in literature, with his Works and thoughts, national stance and innovations he brought to the story genre, he has an important place in terms of influencing the artists who came from his own period and after his own period. In this study, one of the most important writers of our literature, Ömer Seyfettin, tries to determine his thoughts about gender and family by examining how family and gender elements are emphasized.In this context, family structures, women-man and child relationships in the family, thoughts about love, marriage and divorce; The functions of the subjects such as religion, education, economy and values were evaluated. The way to get rid of the economic and moral disorders, the unconsciousness of Westernization, the despair that the people have fallen into, passes through a society that is loaded with national and spiritual values, knowledgeable, cultured, able to stand on its own feet and looking back to the future who knows the past.It is understood that the gender stereotypes and gender roles that are emphasized are stil continuing today despite a hundred years since the story was written.
