Abstract
The Effect of COVİD-19 on Syrian Refugees
Refugees are effected by most events in host societies, at the same time they have potential to orient the events in that societies. Therefore, it can be said that any event that occure in society such as outbreak and natural disasters, naturaly influence refugees lived in that societies as well. Turkey is one of the most refugee hosting contiries in the world. Thus, it is important to determine refugees’ experinces related to COVID-19 pandemic. In accordance with this purpose, a qualitative research was conducted with refugees in Turkey. Data were collected from 17 Syrian refugees. Data was analysed through thematic analysis technique. The findings indicated that Syrian refugees faced various economic, psychological, educational, social and health problems during COVID-19 pandemic. They tried to take preventive measures against COVID-19 such as staying at home, maintaining social distance and being aware of hygiene. In addition, there are economic, psychological, educational, social and health support needs and expectations of refugees in the face of the pandemic.
