Developing Social Media Use Purposes Scale of University Student
The aim of this study is to evaluate the reliability and validity of the scale defining the aims of university students while using social media. Working team of the research consists of 319 people -175 women and 144 men- who study at Igdir University in 2020 year. As a result of exploratory factor analysis, it has been defined that the scale defining the aims of university students while using social media consists of 17 items and 4 sub-dimensions explaining %63.27 of total variances. As the result of confirmatory factor analysis, it has been specified that four dimensions and one dimension of the scale is valid. By the scale’s criterion based validity analysis, it has been observed that there is a relationship between teenagers’ social media addiction and the scale defining the aims of university students while using social media. As the result of reliability analysis it has been detected that the parameters of internal consistency are respectively .77, .81, .75, .85, .88 for communication, having information, social interaction, need for entertainment and the whole scale.Finally it can be stated that the scale is a reliable and valid quantification method for defining the aims of university students while using social media.
