Abstract
A SHORT-LIVED SISTER PUBLICATION OF SPORTS MAGAZINE: KEŞŞAF
Keşşaf is one of the first magazines published in the field of scouting in the Turkish sports press. Keşşaf is a magazine that was published only five issues between 4 April and 24 June 1923 by the founders of Spor Âlemi (Sports World) magazine. Although it is not a long-running publication, it is of great importance in terms of the information it contains. Turkish scouting, which we can call "partial dormancy" during the armistice period, entered the process of revival after the War of Independence. Spor Âlemi magazine, which does not remain indifferent to this evolvements, published a special magazine under the name of Keşşaf related to scouting. Keşşaf magazine not only went down to the historical origins of scouting, but also revealed the unknowns about scouting by transmitting up-to-date information about the emergence process of Turkish scouting and Scout activities in Istanbul, Anatolia and Europe during its emergence. In this study, it was aimed to introduce Keşşaf, which has an important place in the field of scouting in the Turkish sports press, and to shed light on pre-Republican Turkish scouting in the context of the information it contains.
