The purpose of this research study was to determine the lower secondary school students’ attitudes towards English as a lesson and their study skills and to examine the relationship between the levels of their attitudes towards English lesson and study skills. The effects of the variables of gender and English exam scores on the students’ attitudes towards English lesson and their study skills was also investigated descriptively. The Attitude towards English Lesson Scale and the Study Skills Scale were administered to 362 lower secondary school students in Afyonkarahisar in the first term of the 2013-2014 academic year. A statistically significant relationship between the students’ levels of study skills and attitude towards English lesson was found and differences among the students’ levels of study skills and attitude towards English lesson in terms of gender and English exam scores were detected (p<.05).
