Abstract


Influence of Listening Speed in Video on Understanding in Foreign Language Teaching
This article aims to determine the effect of the speed of listening in videos on understanding in foreign language teaching. The research sample is composed of 11 graduate students from Atatürk University Kazim Karabekir Education Faculty French Language Education Department. Dates were obtained from three videos which contains information on different topics related to the world agenda and ranging from 2,5 to 5 minutes in applications "7 jours sur la planète" (7 days in the planet) on the website "TV 5 Monde Enseigner le Français" (teaching French with Tv 5 Monde). Video entitled "un festival pour retrouver le sourire" (a festival to re-smile) has been utilized at the speed slow; video named "Marche Anti-Trump" (manifestations anti-Trump) at the speed normal and video entitled "Zoran Mandlbaum: un homme ordinaire au courage extraordinaire" a courageous ordinary person) at the speed high. The data obtained as a result of the research were analyzed by descriptive analysis method. The research reveals that participants are successful in the normal and fast listening speeds while they fail in slow listening speed.
