Examination of Writing and Speaking Activities in the 5th Grade Turkish Lesson Book Prepared Based on the 2017 Turkish Curriculum
The aim of this study is to examine the writing and speaking activities of the 5th-grade Turkish coursebook prepared by MEB based on the new program. The activities have been demonstrated to meet writing and speech outcomes. In addition, activities were examined according to writing and speaking techniques and themes. 248 activities were examined in the study conducted according to the qualitative research method. The data were presented with a descriptive analysis. According to the results of the research, it is seen that the outcomes are not distributed in a balanced manner above activities. There has been no activity that directly addressed some of the writing achievements. Speaking activities include at least one activity that addresses outcomes. Distribution of activities above themes, the writing activities were found to take place more than the speaking activities. The most common writing method and technique is "text completion" in activities. On the other hand, the most common speaking method and technique are “speaking by being in somebody's shoes”.
