Abstract


An Analysis on Philosophy with Children
One of the most intriguing discussions on philosophy in recent years is about the possibility to do philosophy with children. Various claims have been asserted by the philosophers and educators regarding at what age and by which method children should be introduced with philosophy and how this education would contribute to children. It is an undisputable fact that philosophy education will contribute greatly to the development of the thinking skill. On the other hand; there is an uncertain and arbitrary approach in determining the frame of this important topic, the method and the person to manage this process. The philosophers have a significant role in the clarification of this issue. In this research, it is aimed to discuss the studies on philosophy for children in Turkey and the theoretical ground of this topic and to refer to the significance of the selection of resource for the philosophy practices to be carried out with children. An example study on philosophy with children will be presented, and example questions on the study will be provided. In this respect, this research aims to provide both a theoretical background and a practical example of philosophy with children, which has become an increasingly important field of study.
