Abstract


Teachers' Perception of Rural Tourism: The Case of Iğdır
This research aims to determine the perception of the teachers working in the center of Iğdır province about the effects of tourism and to evaluate the thoughts of the teachers about tourism. The survey was done with 340 teachers living in Iğdır. Perceptions of economic, social and environmental effects of rural tourism were evaluated by the survey. The results show that teachers' perception of rural tourism is positive. Also, there is a significant difference between the variables of demographic characteristics of teachers and the perception of rural tourism. There is no significant difference between the social and economic perceptions of rural tourism according to the age of the teachers. However, significant differences were found between teachers' age and environmental perceptions. Accordingly, it has been found that the environmental perceptions of teachers between the ages of 20-29 on rural tourism are more positive than those over the age of 30. There is no significant difference between the perceptions of rural tourism on the teachers' marital status and gender.
