Evaluation of Higher Education Quality in Tourism Education: The Case of Kartepe Tourism Vocational School
In this research, quantitative and qualitative research techniques were used together to evaluate the quality of higher education. Firstly, a questionnaire was applied to students who were educated in the Kartepe Tourism Vocational School of Kocaeli University and T-test, Oneway ANOVA test and correlation analysis were used in the analysis of the data. And then interviews with students were conducted and descriptive analysis was applied to the data. As a consequence of the research, it was determined that students' perceptions of higher education quality differed according to gender and girls had a higher level of education perceptions than boys. Again, according to the high school education received by the students, the perceptions of the teaching differed and the perceptions of high school graduates were found to have higher quality perceptions. There was a significant and positive relationship between teaching quality dimensions. When the results of qualitative data are evaluated; it has been determined that the lack of facilities and equipment adversely affects the quality of teaching and that accessibility to academic and administrative staff contributes to the efficiency of education by providing time for solving problems, foreign language courses are essential for tourism departments and increasing the diversity of vocational courses will increase the quality of vocational education.
